A little about my plans for this blog:
I find a tremendous amount of value in analyzing potential positions, current holdings, and past trades. I plan to use this blog for this type of analysis on general market conditions as well as prospective, current, and past trading decisions. While this blog is primarily a means of accountability for my own trading, I hope it can provide value, entertainment, or both for whomever comes in contact with it.
My trading methodologies have been impacted by a wide range of professionals, but most notably Michael Covel and his work on trend following as well as William O'Neil (IBD), Mark Minervini (MPA), Jesse Livermore, and Stan Weinstein. My methodology on trading equity markets can be summed up like this: I look for constructive chart patterns and setups based on price/volume analysis accompanied by strong fundamentals.
I've dabbled in the managed futures space, primarily thanks to Michael Covel's introduction to the trend following/CTA/Managed Futures world (Trend Following). Although trend following trading is certainly not limited to the futures markets, they seem to be the weapon of choice for most professional trend following money managers. I plan to provide commentary on futures and commodity markets in addition to individual equity analysis.
Finally, in an attempt to break up the monotony of constant analysis, I hope to include reviews of influential reading material, trader profiles, and lessons learned in the markets. As someone who began their trading education by diving headfirst into as many books as possible, I can't speak enough to the value of reading. I hope that I can provide guidance to beginning traders looking for the right direction.
Happy Trading!
